Syracuse, NY — The semester my only class on Friday is New 617, Advanced News Reporting and Writing with Professor Bob Lloyd. It started at 8:20 a.m.
On the first day of class we spent an hour and a half making introductions and going over the syllabus. Just as everything was going so smooth, professor Lloyd and Gutterman dropped the bomb on us.
Our first assignment was to leave class and spend the rest of the day at the Great New York State Fair reporting on three different stories of our choice. The stories were due the next day at 12 p.m. I decided to write about a lemonade stand worker, a chainsaw carver and the duck race.
It was a long, hot day but a lot of fun. Here are some pictures:
