Ladies love lions

Syracuse, NY –  This time around I took the Megabus. The drive from Syracuse to New York is long and tiring. My bus was scheduled to leave at 1:15 p.m. sharp. I got to the station a half hour early and grabbed a Subway sandwich. The sun was out so I sat outside on a bench. 1:15 came and went. Some people sat on the curb, others paced back and forth. At around 2:20, the bus finally showed up. Mega-late.

When I arrived at Madison Square Garden (MSG, the mecca, the greatest basketball venue ever created by man), my uncle was kind enough to pick me up.

The rest of my weekend was spent:

  • sifting through dozens of of microfilm rolls of El Diario de Nueva York
  • making origami for my little cousins
  • watching “Star Trek” with my uncle
  • walking around Times Square and Rockefeller Center

I caught the 7:20 bus ride back to ‘Cuse. Coincidentally, Ms. S.J. Velasquez was also on her way back after a long weekend adventuring in Manhattan. I snacked on some pistachios my aunt packed me while S.J. and I chatted about Jesuits, New York’s amazingness and the newspaper business. Overall, it was a very productive and fun weekend.

    Paper Boy,

Did the bus fumes from the Port Authority melt the P-roid?

I was like M. Culkin in Gotham this past weekend – walked up Broadway from MSG, cutting through Macy’s.

After stopping at Conde Nast, I went to the M&M store and Toys R Us. I’m not kidding. Little kid.

Then walked all the way back to MSG, taking a stop to say hello the Gray Lady.

Fernando, what a nice trip!! and very productive. I love the NY public library, you can spend weeks there exploring and reading material that brings you back to some great history. I’m glad to see that you were able to find the material from the Ed Diario, grandpa still reads the Spanish paper everyday.
