Cheshire, CT – My uncle Ernest napped in the shade. Cousin Vanessa, the newest addition to the family, squirmed around in her baby carriage. Charles and I dominated in cornhole (the game of the gods.) This was my July 4th. It was hot and a lot of fun.
Here’s a brief breakdown of the days events:
- Arrived in Cheshire and chowed down. Hot dogs, burgers, steak, rice (and beans), potato salad and chunchullo–a Colombian delicacy and heart stopper–were on the menu.
- Ooh and ahhed at pictures of Uncle Tony’s new mini-mansion.
- Was introduced to the game of cornhole. Five minutes later Mastered the game of cornhole.
- Ate some more rice, hot dogs and steak dressed with pork rinds.
- Played some more cornhole. More than an hour later Lost my first game of cornhole. Swallowed sadness.
- Lit off some sparklers in the street.
- Ate a cheeseburger.
- Untucked the polo shirt and played some more cornhole.
- Snapped Polaroids of Vanessa and the family.
- Ate cookies, cakes and cupcakes.
- Cousins and I shot off a ton of fireworks in the street as the family watched and cheered.
- Drove home with jonboi and found out that the Knicks met with Lebron James’ people again. One of the best Independence Day’s ever.

Another great 4th of July full of family and friends, what a joy!! The fiber of our families is threaded by our reunions. They become cherished memories that all of us remember fondly. As the new generation of cousins and grandchildren grow up, we hope that it will become a part of their tradition. Family reunion’s fun fun!!
Great day with great people! Lest your fans miss the point, I believe that first cornhole loss was to a 7 year old. Oh yea and you always had the downhill shot!!!! So glad that you and Charles, with your advanced degrees have mastered the beanbag toss game! Not a hater, just dont appreciate you creaming my kidz in the game.
